It was a tough day of competition and steamy weather for the Christian County Colonels Friday during the pool play competition at the Best of the West 7-on-7 passing tournament at the Stadium of Champions. The Colonels finished the day with a 1-3 record.

Christian County got things started Friday morning taking on Macon County. This one did not go the Colonels’ way as Macon County took a 33-6 win.

The day got no easier as the Colonels’ second game found them taking on perennial BOTW contender Pearl-Cohn. Pearl turned up its high-powered offense and claimed a 40-14 victory.

Christian County and Clarksville Northeast hooked up in the Colonels’ third game of the day and this one came down to the wire. But it would be Northeast taking the win at 25-21.

The Colonels were scheduled to take on Fort Campbell to close out their day, but due to an apparent schedule misunderstanding, the game was a forfeit by Fort Campbell, giving the Colonels a 1-3 record for the day.

With bracket play beginning Saturday morning, Christian County will get its chance against Fort Campbell as the two teams are seeded against each other in the first round of play. That game is set for 9am.

With a win, the Colonels would advance to take on Kenwood. A loss would drop Christian County into the consolation bracket.
