While it’s no longer his home golf course, Landon Hunt continued to shoot well at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
Preparing for his second year at McCracken County High School, the former Christian County Colonel shot an even-par 71 on Thursday to win the GO Junior Golf Series Southern Championship.
Hunt finished two shots better than second-place finisher Jax Malone of Owensboro in the 16-18 Division. Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Ben Dickerson shot a 78 to finish in third place. His Maroon teammate, Michael Terry, finished in seventh place with an 83. However, Terry’s score was enough to claim the season-long points championship.
Sawyer Rhorer finished in sixth place with an 83, while Josh Thompson shot an 85 to claim ninth place.
In the 13-15 age division, Lemuel Wright shot a 77 to win by four shots over Bowling Green’s Johnny Brown.
Ryan Martin and Isaiah Wood – both of Hopkinsville High School – shot an 85 to tie for third place.
Henry Riggs of Hopkinsville shot a 102 to finish in an 11th-place tie with Madisonville’s Spencer Munchbach. Jackson Crick was 13th with a 103 followed by Hopkinsville’s Sam Riggs in 14th place (104), Jax Miller in 15th place (108), and Jett Miller in 16th place (110).
