For the first time, it is ‘Go West Young Man’ for the All A Classic state basketball tournaments. According to information on the All A Classic website, the 2025 edition of the small school girls’ and boys’ basketball tournaments will be played in the Owensboro Sportscenter.
The Sportscenter is the home court for NCAA Division II 8-time champion Kentucky Wesleyan College and is the host site for the 3rd Region boys’ and girls’ basketball tournaments.
The 2024 tournament was played in Corbin at the Corbin Arena due to construction at McBrayer Arena in Richmond. That project is running behind schedule and, for various reasons, Corbin apparently was not an option for the tournament next January.
Outside of last year’s trip to Corbin, Richmond has been the primary home for the event over the years. There have been short stays in Lexington and in Frankfort.
This year’s All A Classic basketball tournament will be played January 22-26.
Returning to Owensboro is the All A Classic state baseball tournament in April 2025. This year’s tourney will be played at Daviess County High School.
Another noteworthy location change for the 2024-2025 athletic year is the All A Classic volleyball tournament. That event will take place September 20-21 at the Bluegrass Sportsplex in Elizabethtown. That move is also due to the construction project at McBrayer Arena in Richmond.
