Comer Thanks Fort, Lester For Strong Efforts During Internship

Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) recognized local students Allie Fort, Colin Harris and Ella Lester Wednesday afternoon — following their completion of summer internships in his Washington, D.C. Office.

During their time in the nation’s capital, Fort, Harris and Lester answered constituent inquiries from Kentucky’s First Congressional District, researched legislative issues, coordinated tours and provided general office assistance.

Comer called the trio “indispensable,” and thanked them for their dedicated service helping he and his staff serve Kentuckians — who often call his office seeking help from the federal government.

Fort is a Christian County native is pursuing her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky, where she is a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Lewis Honors College.

Fort said she loved hearing about the range of work needed in the Congressional office, as well as hearing about issues in the 1st Congressional District she wouldn’t have known about without the internship. She also said it was cool that everyone mattered, and all positions work “to help keep the government functioning.”

Lester is also a Christian County native, who is pursuing her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, where she is a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and UA Honors Program.

Lester said she was thankful for the opportunity to learn more about the functions of the Legislative branch, and she gained many new connections for her future education and career.

Harris is a Taylor County native who is pursuing his undergraduate degree from Campbellsville University, where he is actively involved in his Theater Troupe and the Archery team.
