W.D. Kelly Jr., 97, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Robbie Weathers officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Hopkinsville, KY he was born April 19, 1927, the son of the late Walter Dewey Kelly Sr. and Mabel Clark Kelly. He owned and operated Kelly’s TV Service for over 50 years. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a ham radio operator and his letters were N4VOB.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Elisabeth Berta Hettmannsperger Kelly; and his daughter: Peggy Gorrell Shackelford.
Survivors include his son: Mark Thomas (Cindy) Kelly of Herndon, KY; his daughters: Susan (David) Chiles of Cadiz, KY, Patsy (Michael) Klosterman of Louisville, KY, and Audrey Schemmer of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a favorite charity of personal choice.
