Lewis Named Interim As Trigg-Cadiz Tourism Director Position Opens

Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist Commission members announced Tuesday evening the appointment of Jamie Lewis as interim executive director — holding firm in the wake of retiring Bill Stevens.

Effective August 1, Lewis will lead the organization until a permanent candidate is selected, which could still be her.

In the coming weeks, however, the board will review possible applicants to the position — which was officially posted Tuesday night.

Through a written statement, Commissioner Dustin Gilbert noted Jamie’s dedication to community, paired with innovative thinking, make her “an excellent fit for this position,” and she will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the position — while managing public relations efforts.

Gilbert, as well as the rest of the board, state they are committed to “promoting and developing tourism in the Cadiz-Trigg County region.”

According to the job listing, pay of executive director is $48,000 annually as a full-time position.

One must have, and be willing to demonstrate:

*Experience in senior leadership
*The ability to plan, direct, organize and coordinate the promotion of Cadiz-Trigg County as a tourist destination
*The responsibilities of all hiring, promotions and terminations of personnel
*Work and communicate with the board of directors, while establishing development strategies, programs, and polices to promote tourism
*Develop a recommended annual budget for consideration and approval from board of directors
*Develop and implement a tourism marketing plan for Cadiz/Trigg County area, working closely with hotels/motels, campgrounds, restaurants & all area attractions
*Oversee and coordinate ideas, plans, marketing strategies, media purchases, brochures, social platforms, conferences, special events and other special activities necessary in the promotion of Cadiz/Trigg County
*Attend meetings, seminars, conventions and workshops to further knowledge, stay informed of the changes in the tourism industry, and exchange information
*Represent Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism and Convention Commission at regional and state tourism meetings, as well as state level associations and organizations
*Act as public relations liaison on behalf of the commission
*And maintain a strong presence in the local community by being actively involved with other local organizations for the betterment of Cadiz and Trigg County

A graduate from an accredited four-year college or university, with a major in tourism development, public relations, business administration, marketing or closely related fields — or four or more years working in a similar or related field — is preferred.

Relocation to Trigg County, if not already living there, is required.
