The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has reopened a portion of KY 126 (Cobb Road) in northeastern Trigg County after addressing a sinkhole that developed in the road last week.
According to District 1 spokesman Keith Todd, Cobb Road had to be blocked about 50 feet south of the Trigg-Caldwell County Line where a sinkhole about the size of a bushel basket had formed in the middle of the road.
He stated that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Trigg County Highway Maintenance crew used concrete to fill the hole this week and then backfilled the opening.
Cobb Road reopened to traffic at 9:00 Friday morning.
Todd advises motorists to exercise caution, as the excavation area will have a gravel surface and will need time to settle before a permanent asphalt cap is applied.
