Grand Jury Returns Indictments for Attempted Murder and Wanton Endangerment

Multiple indictments were issued by the Christian County Grand Jury Friday, including on charges of attempted murder and wanton endangerment.

A true bill was returned on Alicia Yocham, of Hopkinsville, on a single count of attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence.

The indictment alleges that on June 14 Yocham subjected her 5-year old son to torture and cruel punishment, along with allegedly failing to provide him with food, proper shelter, and proper care.

According to Hopkinsville Police, they were called to home to check on the child at a home on Waddell Circle and found marks all over his body. Police said the child was skinny to the point that his rib cage was showing. There were reportedly five other children in the him but police said they did not appear to be in the same condition.

The grand jury also indicted Martavious Reed, of Clarksville, Tennessee, on numerous charges including first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing and evading police in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of accident and trafficking marijuana.

The charges are in connection to a pursuit on June 24 when Hopkinsville Police said they tried to stop a vehicle driven by Reed for speeding on Fort Campbell Boulevard. During the pursuit, according to police, Reed reached speeds of over 100 mph on the boulevard, cutting off driver and failing to stop at traffic signals.

Police said the pursuit ended when Reed hit two vehicles on Segler Drive and his tire came off and hit a third vehicle. One of the driver’s hit by Reed, was reportedly transported by ambulance to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville to be checked out.
