Funeral services for 92-year-old Elton Wayne “Hap” Campbell Sr., of Christian County, will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 9, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday, August 8.
Survivors include:
His sons, Elton Wayne Campbell Jr., and Johnny (Molly) Campbell of Hopkinsville;
His daughter, Karen Webb, of Hopkinsville;
His sisters, Rosa Lea McGurl, of Virginia, and Wanda C. Nelson (Raymond), of Christian County;
Six grandchildren, William Clay Edwards (Nikki), Lauren Elizabeth Chester (Ethan), Evan Cayce Campbell, Claire Margaret Campbell, Nicholas Wayne Webb (Allison) and Bryce Campbell Webb;
And six great grandchildren, Arthur Edwards, Easton Edwards, Ann Claire Chester, Malia Gale Webb, Bryer Wayne Webb, and Keller Vance Webb.
He died July 26, 2024, at Christian Health Center of natural causes.
He was born October 27, 1931, in Christian County the son of late S.V. and Dessie M. Armstrong Campbell.
He was a farmer and businessman. He and his wife, Ann were the owner/operators of Pennyrile Ag Oil, Inc. He was one of the first stockholders for the Hopkinsville Elevator Co. in March of 1968. He was a founding member of the local National Farmers Organization (NFO). He loved raising beagles and birddogs, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
He was a veteran in the US Army and a member of Liberty Christian Church for over 50 years where he served as a deacon and the chair of the congregation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ann Smithson Campbell; his brothers, Gene Campbell, Billy Campbell, Sr.; and his sister, Brenda Campbell.
