William Ray Simpson, 78, of Hopkinsville, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at his home. Funeral services will be at Noon on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with the care of their loved one.
Mr. Simpson was born on January 31, 1946, in Hopkinsville, the son of the late Oscar and Nellie Marsh Simpson. He was co-owner of Simpson Tree Services, and formerly a water well driller. William attended Second Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James O. Simpson and Douglas Simpson, and his sisters, Juanita Johnson, Pauline White, Edith Jones, and Helen Good.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Rachel Stewart Simpson of Hopkinsville, his step-son, Michael Brown of Hopkinsville; his twin sister, Carolyn Sugg (Charles) of Christian County; his brothers, Keith Simpson of Hopkinsville, Kenneth Simpson (Diane) of Christian County, Clifford Simpson (Carol) of Christian County, and Hilmond Simpson (Sue) of Christian County; his sister, Nell Cooper of Morton Gap. KY; his grandchildren, Alex Brown, Miranda Brown, and Cameron Tabor.
