Color Run, And More, On Tap For St. Luke Free Clinic

color-run-1

For years, the St. Luke Free Clinic of Hopkinsville Color Run has been a key fundraising arm for the 408 W. 17th Street location, and it’s fast approaching.

Planned for 10 AM until noon September 7, its start and finish line is the entrance of the Rail Trail at 450 North Drive.

Suitable for ages 6 and up, registration is $10 for those only running or walking, and $20 for those seeking a themed T-shirt for the efforts. Those 5 years old, or younger, are free.

A three-kilometer, untimed event, St. Luke Executive Director Tiffany Jenkins said the colors come from eco-friendly cornstarch, and at different intervals.

Jenkins noted that pre-registration and pre-paying for the race is appreciated, but isn’t mandatory.

Strictly relying on donations to maintain functionality, St. Luke Free Clinic has been able to provide free healthcare to Christian, Todd and Trigg counties since 1993.

In the 2023 calendar year alone, Jenkins said the clinic — conveniently located next to the Christian County Health Department and Jennie Stuart Health — served more than 970 patients over 800 visits, and those numbers have only grown in 2024.

She said those who qualify for applications include anyone operating at 250% of the poverty line, don’t have insurance, and/or have an insurance deductible north of $2,500 — which makes donations all the more important, because in certain situations, medication is donated, and funds raised go toward operations, utilities, patient lab work and medical supplies.

The raffle basket drawings are pretty popular, and the most recent effort concludes at 5:45 PM Monday. Tickets are $5 and can still be purchased through the “St. Luke Free Clinic of Hopkinsville” Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Jenkins said visits to the clinic come in wide variety.

Any questions, concerns and/or registration for this year’s Color Run can be directed by email to stlukeclinic22@gmail.com, call (270) 889-9340, or visit their in-person location.

A new website for the organization is launching this week.
