A home on Madisonville Road in Crofton was severely damaged in a fire and a dog was killed Thursday afternoon.
Crofton Firefighters say they were called for smoke coming from a mobile home at the intersection of Covered Wagon Road and found a large fire on one side of the home.
A local farmer was using a pumper truck to shoot water into the home when firefighters arrived.
No one was home at the time of the fire and it was quickly extinguished with the help of firefighters from Westside Fire Department.
Firefighters say the family will be displaced due to the extensive damage adding the family’s dog was killed in the fire.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
