Four employers in Christian County were among dozens of Kentucky businesses honored with Governor’s Safety and Health Awards on Thursday. The awards, presented by Education and Labor Cabinet Secretary Jamie Link, recognized their outstanding commitment to workplace safety.

At the annual Governor’s Safety and Health Conference, Secretary Link honored 39 companies whose employees collectively logged over 48.5 million consecutive hours without a lost-time injury or illness in 2023. The recognized businesses in Hopkinsville include:

  • AMFINE Corporation: 1,145,437 hours without lost-time or illness
  • Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority: 613,770 hours
  • Pennyrile Rural Electric: 253,376 hours
  • Riken Elastomers: 1,235,468 hours

In a written statement, Link emphasized that workplace safety has been a top priority for Governor Andy Beshear’s administration from the start. He expressed pride in recognizing businesses for their efforts to protect Kentucky workers. Link commended these companies for leading by example and hoped their success would inspire others to enhance health and safety protections across the commonwealth.

Link highlighted the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics data, showing Kentucky’s recordable, nonfatal occupational injury and illness rate remains at an all-time low of 3.2 cases per 100 full-time workers. This rate, which fell to that level in 2021 during Gov. Beshear’s first term, was 8.4 cases per 100 full-time workers when tracking the data began in 1996.

Gov. Beshear also proclaimed August 18-24 as Safety and Health in the Workplace Week.
