Judy Lynn Jasper, 59, of Oak Grove, Kentucky, died Aug. 13, 2024, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Judy was born May 12, 1965, in Springfield, Tennessee, to Lowell A. Reigel Sr. and the late Barbara Ann Armstrong Reigel. Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her younger brother, John D. Reigel.
Judy was passionate about caring for children and spent much of her professional career as an aftercare director at Pembroke Elementary School. She also served as a substitute teacher for Christian County Public Schools.
In 2015, Judy graduated from Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies. She then transitioned her career from childcare to working with the elderly. She worked for Home Instead in Clarksville and Hopkinsville for many years.
A devout Christian, Judy was known to use creativity and artistic skills to bring many vacation Bible school programs to life for the children at Pembroke Baptist Church and Salem Baptist Church. She loved to sing in the choir and was always ready to bring a covered dish to the church potluck.
Judy was always excited to pack a bag and hit the road for a weekend trip any chance she got. During her life she shared her love of travel with her family by going on road trips together to many places including the Great Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida; and Hershey Park, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. A native to the area, Judy also loved to take drives down to the lakes that her ancestors called home, Golden Pond.
Anyone who knew Judy knew she was an avid fan of Elvis Presley. She visited Graceland many times and listened to the Elvis radio station every day. She also enjoyed collecting antique Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Judy loved to spend time with her family and hosted many holiday gatherings throughout her life. She enjoyed all kinds of games, especially trivia, Scrabble, and cards.
Judy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard Jasper of Oak Grove, Ky.; her daughter and her spouse, Mari-Alice Jasper and Paul Russell, of Oak Grove, Ky.; her father, Lowell Reigel Sr.; her brother and his spouse, Lowell Reigel Jr., and Dawn Reigel of Hopkinsville, Ky.; her nephew, Chris Reigel, of Hopkinsville, Ky.; and her niece and her spouse, Heather Moss and Ryan Moss, of Hopkinsville. She also is survived by her grandniece, Beatrice Olivia Reigel, and grandnephew, Hunter Reigel.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug, 31, at Pembroke Baptist Church, 144 S. Main St., Pembroke. Lamb Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
