Casey Jones Distillery Offering Mash Maker’s Experience

mash-maker-1-1

For the first time in its ten-year history, Casey Jones Distillery is offering a mash maker’s experience.

bourbon whiskey mash bill combines grains used in a distiller’s recipe to create the final product. Casey Jones’ co-founder Peg Hays told Your News Edge the idea was one from her husband and master distiller “A.J.” Casey Jones.

The first mash maker’s experience will start Saturday morning at 9:35 and some rules must be followed for the final product.

Hays added the unique opportunity will become a monthly series and the cost per experience on the Casey Jones property is just $10 a person.

Following the first mash makers, it will take up to four years for the bourbon to be processed. Hays said that you’ll be able to follow the barrel of bourbon you helped create.

There will be plenty of other activities to participate in this Labor Day weekend at Casey Jones Distillery, including the Casey’s ‘Til Late series which runs through next month and combines local musical talent with food trucks for a fun, family-friendly event. There is no admission cost to attend the concert series.

More information about any events at Casey Jones Distillery can be found here. WHVO’s Kimberly Allen will be on hand for the first mash maker’s experience and will have live reports on 96.5 & 100.9 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.
