Funeral services for 96-year-old Rev. Dr. Charles Edward Kirby, of Louisville and formerly of Cadiz, will be 7 PM Sunday at Portland Memorial Baptist Church in Louisville.
Burial will be 1 PM Monday at Rocky Ridge Church Cemetery in Cadiz.
Visitation with friends and family will be from 1-7 PM Sunday at the church.
G.C. Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include:
His wife, the former Bettye Kizer;
His brother, Rev. N.A. Kirby of Hopkinsville;
His children, Linda Kirby, of Louisville, Charlene Smith, of Virginia, Andrae Kirby, of Oklahoma City, Rev. Stephan Kirby, of Louisville, Harold Jamison Kirby, of Wilmington, Bronwyn Lottering, of Louisville, and Darrius Kirby, of Louisville;
23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of several nieces, nephews and other close relatives.
He died Monday, August 26, 2024, at his residence.
He was a member of Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries, where his son serves as pastor.
Kirby served as pastor of the Southern Star Baptist Church for 53 years. He retired in 2009 after five decades of dedicated service.
