An important part-time job has now been posted for Cadiz and Trigg County.

The Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is seeking a president and chamber director, following Beth Sumner’s move to executive director for Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism.

A contract position requiring 90 hours a month, or roughly 22 hours a week, Sumner’s replacement will be responsible for the solicitation of new memberships, while coordinating and conducting activities that enhance the retention rate of membership.

As the primary staff person for the directors, duties and responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:

— the promotion of business and organizational opportunities
— the organization and implementation of recruitment and renewal drives
— the coordination of an ambassador program
— the development and nurturing of an effective communication program through social media and a newsletter
— the maintenance of all records and contacts with chamber members
— the partnership with the West Kentucky Regional Chamber Alliance
— the continued establishment of the youth and adult leadership programs
— the focus on internal and external public relations
— the attendance of all pertinent civic meetings and social gatherings across Trigg County
— and the compiling of annual budgets

The Chamber of Commerce keeps a busy calendar, too. This includes a monthly Lunch & Learn, a monthly Board of Directors meeting, a monthly Chamber ambassador program, a bi-monthly Business After Hours, the Annual Chamber Dinner & Small Business Awards ceremony, the annual Membership Drive, the annual Ham Festival Kick Off Breakfast and Country Ham & Biscuit Eating Contest, the Halloween Safe Night Costume Contest, a Mingle & Jingle Retail Event, a Trim the Tree Christmas Luncheon, a growing annual Job Fair, and a Spring Marketing event.

Minimum requirements ask applicants to have a high school diploma or GED, though some college is preferred, have good public relations skills — orally and written — and be willing to work standard office hours while possessing advanced computer skills.

Sumner spent nearly four years as chamber membership director, before opting for a new, but similar, experience for the community.

Publicly listed, pay starts at $1,750 per month.
