She was born on January 8, 1950, in Cadiz, Kentucky, to the late J.D. & Edna (Hall) King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie King and Johnny Reddick.
Connie worked as a dedicated LPN at Jennie Stuart Medical Center for several years before she transitioned to managing the books for her husband’s business, Joe King Equipment.
She was a devoted member of Locust Grove Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, where she poured her soul into teaching youth and playing piano, sharing her love for music and God. Her musical talents were also a gift she shared with others, singing at the nursing home weekly.
Connie’s interests and hobbies were a reflection of her zest for life and love for her family. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing a hearty meal for those who gathered around the table. Traveling was another of her passions, with Branson, Missouri, holding a special place in her heart as a favorite destination. Retirement was a cherished chapter for Connie, as it gave her ample time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures alongside her husband and spend more time with her children and grandchildren, who cherished their “Granny” for her boundless love.
She is survived by her husband, Joe King of Hopkinsville; her son, Jerry “Tommy” Mitchell (Jennifer) of Crofton, KY; her daughter, Leslie Dawn Ellerbrook (Jason) of Murray, KY; six grandchildren, Levi Mitchell, Zack Mitchell, Rebecca Ellerbrook, Jack Ellerbrook, John Ellerbrook, and James Ellerbrook; a sister, Bonnie Humphries (Jackie) of Cadiz, and sister-in-law, Doris Ann Reddick of Cadiz.
