Despite Christian County’s rainfall totals from Friday evening, officials with the City of Pembroke are reminding the public of a burn ban that remains in place — one that was activated September 3 by executive order from Mayor Jeanette Aldridge.

Until further notice, outdoor burning activities — including open flames, campfires, bonfires, trash or debris burning, and fireworks — are not permitted.

The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, and several tangential authorities, are directing for this burn ban to be strictly enforced.

Exemptions will only be granted in case of essential activities, deemed appropriate by specific authorities.

Residents and businesses are also urged to exercise caution, and report suspicious or unauthorized burning during this time — as conditions remain dry in the community.
