In 2022, Beth Unfried retired from education — her last stop as University Heights Academy’s Head of School position.

However, Christian County Public Schools officials announced Friday that with the promotion of Leslie Lancaster, Unfried is stepping back into the administration world — where she will hold an important place as Freedom Elementary’s principal until a permanent selection is made.

Unfried replaced Pam Nunn at UHA following her retirement at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

As a graduate of Christian County High School, she grew up in Hopkinsville, and completed her undergraduate studies at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, earning Bachelor of Science and Masters of Arts degrees along the way.

For seven years, she taught in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools before moving into leadership roles, serving as a school administrator at four different locations before eventually becoming the district’s Director of Elementary Education.

A servant of several district and state committees, she has earned the Tennessee Association of School Librarians Distinguished Administrator Award, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association Distinguished Administrator Award, and been named the Tennessee Principal of the Year Grand Division Winner.

A resident of Hopkinsville, she and husband, Jeff, have three children: Gant, Chandler and Maggie.
