Gwen Smith, 74, of Hopkinsville

Funeral services for 74-year-old Gwen Smith, of Hopkinsville, will be 4 PM Tuesday at First United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home, and from 2 PM until the funeral hour at First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:
Her son, Dr. Ross Harmon (Rachel) Smith, of Melbourne, Florida;
Her sister, Jo (Ed) Shewmaker, of Lebanon, Tennessee;
Her grandchildren: Reid Weston Smith and Raegan Avery Smith, both of Viera, Florida;
Her niece, Alisha (Nathan) McFarland, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee;
Her nephew, T.J. (Nik) Shewmaker, of Gallatin, Tennessee;
And her two great nieces and nephew.

She died at 4:42 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon, Tennessee.

A native of Ashland, she was born May 1, 1950 the daughter of late William Guy “Bill” Feagans and Mary Katherine Ross Feagans.

She was a retired state employee having worked at Western State Hospital and the Green River Correctional Complex. Following retirement from the State of Kentucky, she worked at Buck’s Ladies Shop and Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church for more than 30 years having served on the Board of Trustees, an usher, a member of the Hospitality Committee, and participated in many Youth Mission Trips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great nephew, Stetson McFarland.
