Trigg County Schools Threat Determined to be Unsubstantiated

Trigg County School officials investigated a threat against the high school on Friday before police deemed it to be unsubstantiated.

Bridgette Sykes, the school’s community education coordinator, said the threat involved a public post on the social media app Snapchat that was circulating among the students.

She said the rumor was investigated by school and district administrators as well as Cadiz Police school resource officers assigned to the campus. After their investigation, Sykes said the threat was determined to be unsubstantiated.

Cadiz Police Chief Tyler Thomas said several students were interviewed but said there was no specific threat to the high school or its students and was likely a rumor that originated outside of Trigg County.

He said no Trigg County students would be facing criminal charges and added police presence at the school was increased in a move of precaution.
