The 79 million dollar working budget for the Christian County Public School System will be headed to the Kentucky Department of Education. Thursday night, the School Board held its third required review of the budget.
Director of Finance, Jessica Darnell says the general fund pays salaries, transportation, and administration costs.
Darnell adds the district has a healthy contingency fund well above the required 2 percent and the recommended 5 percent.
She say there are two programs – food services and daycare – that are self-sufficient.
The board approved the budget.
In other business, the District paid 3.9 million dollars to Alliance Corportation and contractors for the month of August. To date, the District has paid 35 percent of the cost of construction. Project Manager, Kevin Hitchel says a good portion of the building is under roof.
Foundations are being poured at the Academy of Health and Community Services Friday.
