Riders are saddling up for the first Trigg County Country Ham Festival barrel race.
National Barrel Horse Association KY-01 representative John Raymond Hopson says participants don't have to be a NBHA member to race.
He says that the afternoon will be filled with thrilling races.
Hopson explains that you don't have to be from Kentucky to participate.
He says that there will be a variety of divisions, including one for seniors.
The NBHA hosted it's state competition a few weeks ago, 3,000 riders participated, but one young rider left the other competitiors in the dust.
This shows how intense the competition can be at barrel races. The bond between a horse and it's rider is very important for a successful 14 second run. The show will start at 5pm on Saturday, October 5th.
