The Black Soil organization is partnering with local agriculture vegetable producers and Todd 1070 WEKT and 92.1 FM to distribute free food to community members during Saturday's Todd County Harvest Festival.
Black Soil Co-founder Ashley Smith says they specialize in working with small farms in several ways.
Smith says their effort is funded through state program that uses federal grant funds to help local farmers by purchasing produce for events like the Todd County Harvest Festival.
She says several thousand Kentucky families will receive free food through the program.
Smith says they expect to provide produce and pork to more than 100 families Saturday at the Todd County Harvest Festival. Black Soil's SPROUT food truck will be set up near the Todd County Justice Center. Kevin DeBerry has worked with Todd County producers to source the produce for the Harvest Festival distribution.
