Christian County Walk To End Alzheimer’s Draws Large Turnout

A large group of those battling Alzheimer’s, caregivers, friends, family, and community members showed their support during the annual Christian County Walk Saturday morning at the Christian County Justice Center.

Master of Ceremonies WHVO’s Kimberly Allen announced that more than $40,000 of this year’s $60,000 goal has already been raised, with fundraising continuing through December 31st. Executive Director Shannon White recognized a special group of leaders in the Christian County Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

click to download audioShe also recognized Alan Toliver as an Elite Grand Champion and thanked him for serving as the Chairman of the 2024 Walk.

Kimberly explained the meaning the purple, yellow, orange, blue, and white flowers as they were displayed by the participating in the walk.

click to download audioFollowing the opening ceremony, the walk began through a purple arch at the Christian County Justice Center. Alzheimer’s Association representative Danita Rager-Ward said the route for the walk was relatively short, but is full of meaning.

click to download audioThe walk is supported nationally be Edward Jones, with local teams formed by some of the Edward Jones advisors and their staff. Jake Williams spoke on behalf of the company by noting that Edward Jones has helped raise more than 15 million dollars over the history of the walk.
