In her first six weeks as Trigg County’s new tourism director, Beth Sumner has been diligently assisting the City of Cadiz in preparing for the annual Ham Festival.
Sumner tells Your News Edge that activities begin Thursday morning with the annual kickoff breakfast inside the Lexie Bush Convention Center at 7:00 AM.
Tickets are $20 each and are being sold by the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. Ronnie Drennan, former owner of Broadbent B&B Foods, will serve as the guest speaker for the breakfast.
Around noon Thursday, Sumner says that Main Street from its intersection with Brown Street to West Cadiz Park will close for the festival.
Great American Carnival will have rides open by 4:00 Thursday afternoon in West Cadiz Park, with $50 armbands available for unlimited rides through 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Summer adds the company gives back to the festival each year.
Sumner adds that more than 200 vendors will be on hand Friday and Saturday for the festival along Main Street, connected side streets, and in West Cadiz Park.
A new thing to the festival this year, ‘Locals Lane,’ will be set up along Court Street.
