Officials with the Hopkinsville Christian County YMCA have announced a free, informative Nutrition 101 seminar — one open to both members and non-members.

It’s planned for Tuesday, October 22. Two sessions are available to accommodate various schedules: the first from 11 AM until 11:30 AM, and the second from 5:30 PM until 6 PM.

Sheryl Ellis , CEO of the YMCA, said this seminar is designed to provide essential knowledge on nutrition basics: covering the roles of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in a healthy diet.

Attendees should gain an understanding of what these macronutrients are, why they are important, and how they contribute to overall health and well-being.

This seminar will be led by Octavia Vinson, a dedicated personal trainer at the Hopkinsville YMCA with more than three years of experience. She is certified through Precision Nutrition, and is passionate about helping individuals improve their health and fitness through better nutritional habits.

More than a “gym and swim,” Ellis said the organization’s goal is to support healthy living through education, and that Vinson brings both expertise and a genuine desire to help others on their wellness journey.

Spaces for this seminar are limited, so those interested are encouraged to sign up at the Hopkinsville YMCA or call 270-887-5382 to reserve a spot.
