A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to pave around four miles of Lafayette Road in Hopkinsville beginning Tuesday.
KYTC District Two Spokesman Matt Hughes says work will begin at the intersection of U.S. 68 Business and Kentucky 107 and progress northward to East 18th Street, where the highway splits into two one-way roads.
Milling and paving operations will continue to follow the northbound section, South Virginia Street to East 9th Street.
Hughes adds that when that work is completed, efforts will shift to the southbound section, from South Main Street to East 18th Street.
During this project, on-street parking along these routes will be prohibited.
Hughes says the project is expected to take around three weeks to complete.
