In 2011, James Comer, now a U.S. Representative, launched his campaign for Agriculture Commissioner of Kentucky at the Cadiz Restaurant.

Thirteen years later, after completing a term in that position and becoming a Representative in late 2016, Comer has consistently kept Trigg County in mind throughout his work.

During the Wednesday afternoon Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Lunch & Learn, sponsored by Trigg County Farm Bureau, Comer lauded the efforts of Trigg County Hospital and CEO John Sumner.

Comer expressed hope that once a federal budget is approved, $3 million in funding will be allocated to Trigg County Hospital for new equipment.

He also discussed the relationship with officials from Land Between the Lakes, noting that although the proposed budget does not include any appropriations, his recent work with U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has provided some relief for the region.

Comer also discussed the National Farm Bill and the potential for Murray State University to establish a veterinary school. Your News Edge will share more of his comments soon.
