Barbara Helen Hayes Shaw, age 82, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery with burial to follow. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mrs. Shaw was born in Christian County, KY, on July 27, 1942, the daughter of the late Jewell and Edna Rawlins Hayes. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and retired from Western State. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sons, Michael Keith Shaw, Phillip Shaw, and Carl “Eddie” Shaw; and her two sisters, Mary Lea “Myrt” Laster, and Yvonne Adams.
Survivors include her brother, Danny (Teresa) Hayes of Elkton, KY; her three sisters, Joann Jones of Elkton, KY, Kaye Beasley of Hopkinsville, KY, Judy (Jack) Wade of Pembroke, KY; her brother-in-law, Don Laster of Elkton, KY; her fourteen grandchildren, Nicholas Matthew Shaw of Elkton, Bryan Neil Shaw of Hopkinsville, Amanda Shaw of Hopkinsville, Michael (Catherine) Shaw of Pembroke, Dustin (Brandy) Shaw of Crofton, Krista (Casey) Shaw North of Hopkinsville, Natalie Nicole (Shane) Wangrycht, Lance Tyler (Christian) Shaw of Hopkinsville, Makenzie Brooke Shaw of Campbellsville, Carly (Caleb) Alverio of Hopkinsville, Bentleigh Shaw of Hopkinsville, Tatum Shaw of Hopkinsville, Makayla (Buddy) Cole of Hopkinsville, and Andrew (Tiffany) Shaw-Townsend of Hopkinsville; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
