Commonwealth Agri-Energy, which continues to ramp up ethanol production, is growing its Casky campus.

During a Wednesday afternoon presentation to the Elkton Rotary Club, Plant Manager Jonathan Stahl shared they have been busy processing regional corn.

Commonwealth employs 36 people and is owned by Hopkinsville Elevator, Inc., a grain cooperative formed in 1968 with 3,400 current patron members. Stahl said during the COVID-19 pandemic they shifted operations and did not send any employees home.

Stahl shared that expansions have become a constant for the company, undergoing another currently, as business continues to pick up.

As technologies continue to evolve, Stahl added that new ways to use ethanol are continuing to be developed.

This year, Commonwealth Agri-Energy plans to use 15 million bushels of corn to produce: 45 million gallons of ethanol, 129,000 Tons of distillers dried grains, 110,000 tons of CO2, and 7,000 tons of animal feed grade distillers corn oil.

Along with the site at 4895 Pembroke Road in Hopkinsville, Commonwealth accepts deliveries through a riverport in Clarksville, Tennessee.
