On October 15, 2024, Elizabeth “Betty” McVey, age 90, passed away suddenly and peacefully at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland, surrounded by family.
She will be interred in a private ceremony beside her late husband at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Hopkinsville. King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born on February 17, 1934 in Aurora, Illinois to Edward E. Schulz and Myrtle Hilgenberg Schulz.
She is survived by her children Maureen (Joe) Shaeffer, David (Christina), Daniel (Rachael), seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Edward, Helen, Richard, Elmer, Marian, Donald and Robert and her husband of 66 years, James J. McVey, Jr.
Betty was a devoted wife, a homemaker and a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching wild birds, embroidery, cross stitch and quilting.
