Authorities have released the names of some of the people in a wreck late Sunday morning on US 68 at Interstate 24, which claimed the lives of two people and sent seven to the hospital.
Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree says shortly after 11:00 an SUV was exiting the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 onto US 68 when it collided with a second SUV driven by Maxwell Dannemiller of Cadiz that was traveling on US 68.
54-year-old Kreg Bernell Reed of West Frankfort, Illinois, and 67-year-old David McCabe of Carbondale, Illinois, who were in the SUV exiting Interstate 24 were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash with the driver taken to the hospital.
Dannemiller and five people in his SUV were also taken to the hospital, with at least two flown to a Nashville hospital.
All lanes of US 68 were blocked at Interstate 24 while the crash was investigated and the wreckage was cleared. The name of the driver of the SUV exiting Interstate 24 along with the names of the passengers in Dannemiller’s SUV have not been released.
