Officers Recognized For Efforts In Stopping Impaired Drivers

Officers and deputies across Kentucky received awards for their work in getting impaired drivers off the road.

According to the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Oak Grove Police Sgt Michael Platero, Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Collings, Hopkinsville Police Department Officer Michael Martinez, and Trigg County Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Vincent were all given the award.

They received the 2024 Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Award for efforts to keep impaired drivers off Kentucky’s roads in the previous 12 months.

According to the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety last year in Kentucky there were 4,324 total crashes involving an impaired driver, resulting in 2,085 injuries and 181 deaths.
