Elsie M. Lancaster, 86, of Hopkinsville, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Christian Health Center.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Southside Church of Christ with Phil Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. In honor of Mrs. Elsie’s love of Christmas and UK Basketball, the family is requesting everyone wear: Christmas/Holiday attire, UK attire, or just dress casually. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Princeton, KY she was born March 6, 1938, the daughter of the late William Marshall Darnell and Bertie Erin Luttrell Darnell. She was a retired medical secretary and a member of Southside Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jesse Lancaster; her daughter: Sheila Ann Lancaster Howell; her brothers: Earl Darnell, Joe Darnell, Dean Darnell, and Marshall Darnell; and her sisters: Ada Chilton, Mayme Jenkins, and Mavis Webster.
Survivors include her daughters: Cheryl L. Young of Hopkinsville, KY, and Linda Young (T.R.) Robbins of Paducah, KY; her stepsons: John Wayne (Sharon) Lancaster of Hopkinsville, KY and Thomas Van (Debra) Lancaster of Marian, NC; her brother: Marty (JoAnn) Darnell of Clarksville, TN; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Southside Church of Christ Youth Ministry.
