Kenneth (Ken) Wayne Harris, 81, of Oak Grove, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
Ken was born on May 16, 1943, in McFarland, CA. to Elmer and Lillie Mae (Davis) Harris. He served in the US Army. Ken started his career in the furniture upholstery business. After moving to Phoenix, Arizona he switched careers; after working for three major electrical contractors, he retired as the Purchasing Manager at Mitchell Electric.
Ken enjoyed so many activities including the outdoors, watching all wildlife, woodworking, gardening, westerns, flea markets, and tractors. He was happiest when he was riding one of his many all-terrain vehicles, RV’ing in Quartzsite, and mowing his lawn.
Deteriorating health kept him from attending church regularly; however, he loved The Lord and attended church with his family when he was able.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son: Kenneth Wayne “Pete” Harris II; and his sister: Patricia Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Katherine (Bellgard) Harris of Oak Grove, KY; his daughter Sherri (Harris) Sales and son-in-law Joe Sales of Clarksville TN. His six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His sisters: Barbara Colbert of Folsom, CA, and Wanda Handel of Shafter, CA; three nephews and four nieces. Former son-in-law Shawn Migacz of Showlow, AZ, and “adopted son” Marty Daily of Zebulon, NC.
A private memorial for the immediate family will be held at a later date. Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Hopkinsville is assisting with arrangements.
