NWS Says Ice Still A Threat For Region

The National Weather Service says they are still predicting ice for Western Kentucky with a Winter Weather Advisory in place for the southern portion of the Pennyrile and Purchase areas and an Ice Storm Warning for the northern Pennyrile.

Paducah Lead Forecaster David Humphrey says the winter storm is beginning to materialize as predicted.

Humphrey says the dividing line is still passing through the middle of the Pennyrile region.

He adds the threat will continue through Monday, with any amount of freezing rain and ice a major concern.

Humphrey adds that just because the National Weather Service said this winter storm would not be like the 2009 Ice Storm, they still take it very seriously.

All of the southern Pennyrile remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until Monday at 6 am, with Caldwell, Hopkins, and other counties in the northern Pennyrile under an Ice Storm Warning until 6:00 Monday morning.
