Local Gas Prices Slightly Rise As 2025 Opens

Colder temperatures will be clashing with warming gas prices this week.

That’s according to the AAA East Central Gas Price Report, which notes an average gallon right now is $2.69 — up a nickel from the last seven days, where it was $2.64.

This time a year ago, it was $2.81.

At key stops in the Commonwealth, it’s $2.68 in Bowling Green, $2.65 in Elizabethtown, $2.75 in Louisville, $2.62 in Owensboro and $2.75 in Paducah.

During the first week of 2025, the national average for a gallon of gas increased four cents to $3.06, and today’s average is four cents more than one month ago, and two cents lower than one year ago.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices are trading higher this week at around $74 per barrel.
