The first winter storm of 2025 took a toll on the power grid for Pennyrile Electric with more than 5,000 customers without service.
Pennyrile Electric Vice-president of Member Services Brent Gilkey says crews were able to make some progress in the overnight hours, but not as much as they would have liked to make.
Gilkey says the main issue seems to be trees and limbs on power lines.
He notes that crews are continuing to work to restore power in spite of some challenging conditions.
Gilkey reminds members to stay safe and be careful with alternate heating sources they may be using while the electricity is off.
