Hopkinsville Man Indicted for November Fatal Shooting on North Virginia Street

A Hopkinsville man was indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury on Friday in connection to a November fatal shooting on North Virginia Street.

A true bill was returned on Tavarius Matthews on charges of first-degree murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment discharge of a firearm.

Matthews is accused of shooting 27-year-old Jacorey Major twice in front of Discount Liquors on North Virginia Street just before midnight on November 8. According to Hopkinsville Police, Major was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Health with injuries to his arm and abdomen, where he later died.
