Her beloved husband of 58 years, Rev. Kenny Rogers, of Cadiz;
Her sons, Kenneth Rogers, III, and Matt Rogers (Melissa), both of Cadiz;
Her grandchildren, Margaret, Hayden, and Smith Rogers, Dustin, David, Darrin, and Dawson Goodwin, and Sierra Alexander;
And a sister-in-law, Helen Brown-Chavez of Tucson, Arizona.

She died Thursday, January 9, 2025, at her home.

She was born on January 24, 1947, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the late George Dewey Brown and Earline Shemwell Brown Lawrence.

She graduated from Trigg County High School in 1965, alongside Kenny, whom she steadily dated and later married on July 14, 1966.

As a teenager, she worked as a waitress whose warm smile welcomed patrons at the old Sunset Inn in Golden Pond, Pete Light Spring Restaurant, and the Lake Barkley Lodge.

After marrying Kenny and beginning their family, Betty worked for many years as an office manager for Dr. Newsom’s orthodontics practice in Hopkinsville and later for Dr. Anderson.

As the wife of a pastor, she supported the ministries of the numerous Methodist churches where he served, standing faithfully by her husband’s side.

For 20 years, her love for children shone brightly as she taught the Kindergarten class at Cadiz Methodist Church.

She also devoted herself to the Emmaus Walk and Chrysalis spiritual retreats, serving the Purchase Area community for 15 years and the Pennyrile Area for 12 years. After his retirement from the ministry, Betty and Kenny became active members of Hopkinsville First United Methodist Church.

Betty’s love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She had a special place in her heart for children, always believing in the importance of kindness and compassion towards them. She had a unique ability to make everyone she spoke with feel heard and valued, often deflecting attention from herself to focus on others. She had an infectious smile, a keen eye for fashion, and loved to shop. Her family was the joy of her life, and she embraced every moment with them as “Granna”, a role she cherished deeply.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her four brothers, George, James Rex, Morris, and Jerry Brown.
