Paducah NWS Again Affirms Cold Weather Coming For WKY

011825-weather-1

Saturday morning, officials with the Paducah office for the National Weather Service reaffirmed cold weather is on the way for the News Edge listening area — and it will be around until the middle of next week.

Some key points:

● The coldest conditions will occur Sunday through Wednesday.

● Wind chill values will be in the single digits to teens, with localized readings dropping below zero during the overnight and early morning hours.

● Air temperatures will reach the 10s and 20s for highs, with overnight lows in the single digits.

● Temperatures will begin to moderate back toward normal values after Wednesday.

● Organizations that work with unsheltered populations should finalize preparations for this dangerous cold.

According to Paducah NWS Meteorologist Ryan Presley, rain tapered off earlier Saturday, and light snow showers and flurries will be possible tonight into Sunday morning. Little to no accumulation is expected at this time.

He did say these next few days will possibly be “some of the coldest temperatures and wind chill values of the season.”
