Trigg County 4-Her Reaching Great Heights With Family And Consumer Sciences Conference Win

Trigg County Extension includes four program areas: 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture & Natural Resources, Family & Consumer Sciences, and Community & Economic Development.

A 17-year-old 4-H’er, Jessara Crenshaw recently participated in the National Family & Consumer Sciences Fashion Revenue competition.

Crenshaw competed in the “Upcycle Your Style” category and finished with third place for interviewing and presentation, first for modeling abilities, and Grand Champion for the highest score overall.

Crenshaw described the excitement she felt during the awards banquet.

click to download audioIn addition, Crenshaw said her sewing journey started small, but has developed substantially.

click to download audioCrenshaw spent multiple days last week at the National FCS Conference in San Antonio, Texas competing. She hopes to use this experience and others to help her name be known in the fashion industry.

A trip to Washington, D.C., for the Lunar Block Challenge, is still being planned by her and her family. Donations are being sought through social media.
