Following a sneak-peek revelation at last week’s Christian County Public Schools Foundation Luncheon, officials with CCPS officially announced two new measures coming to the district.
The first: a partnership with Hopkinsville Community College, in order to expand dual credit opportunities to students.
The second: a new video series titled “STARS of CCPS: Sharing Triumphs of Alumni Reaching Success.”
Beginning Fall 2025, CCPS high school students will be able to tackle three new pathways — agriculture, business, and teaching/learning — through the Great Start and Fast Track programs. Dual credit hours will lead to the completion of industry certifications while working toward a program. Students will also take additional credit hours toward an associate degree in their respective fields.
According to Dr. Chris Boyett, vice president of HCC’s academic affairs, said this expansion is similar to Rotary Impact Healthcare, and now, students have “a wider array of options” that will lead them to fill needs in the community and region.
Meanwhile, the video series will focus on alumni of both Christian County High and Hopkinsville High Schools, and will serve as a tribute to graduates’ vibrant stories, remarkable achievements, and inspiring successes.
Kevin Crider, CCPS assistant superintendent, said the video series “also aims to inspire and motivate the next generation of students to reach their fullest potential.”
A 1989 Christian County High School graduate, singer/songwriter Brice Long is the subject of the first video, and the district is seeking nominations from the public through an open nomination process.
Videos will be released once a quarter and are being produced by John Richards. The videos can be found on the CCPS Student Life website and the CCPS district website.
