Dorothy Dossett, 86, of Pembroke

Dorothy “Dot” Dossett, 86, of Pembroke, died at 3:18 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a brief illness. 

Funeral services will be at noon. Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Ross Peterson and Rev. Mike Atkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Pembroke, KY.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.  Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

A native of Christian County, KY she was born September 19, 1938, the daughter of the late Charles Austin “C.A.” Morris, Sr. and Sallie Eleanor Chapman Morris.  She dedicated over 40 years of her career to the banking industry in Pembroke and during that time she served two plus terms as the first woman Mayor of Pembroke.  She was a member of Pembroke United Methodist Church where she played the organ for over 30 years.  She was also an active member of Pennyrile Emmaus and the United Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years:  Buford “Bub” Clark Dossett; an infant son; and her brother:  Charles “Sonny” Morris.    

Survivors include her son:  Nelson Dossett of Pembroke, KY; her daughter:  Lisa Dossett (Bobby) McIntosh of Hopkinsville, KY; her brother:  Randell “Randy” (Sara Beth) Morris of Hopkinsville, KY; her grandchildren:  Lucy Dossett (Thomas) Adams, Ellie Dossett (Luke) Childers, Abby Dossett, Mandy Dossett, and Will McIntosh; and her great-granddaughter:  Renee Adams.  The absolute loves of her life were her children, grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter.   

 Instead of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pembroke United Methodist Church or Micah Mission.
