The high school baseball season is about six weeks out and there is a critical shortage of umpires for the Second Region.
Matt Bell is a longtime umpire and also serves as the assigner for games in the region.
Bell says none of the 19 live in Christian County, which has five high schools that play baseball.
If you are interested in being a high school umpire and helping out, there will be a meeting at Hopkins County Central High School tonight at 6:00 that will serve to answer any questions.
Bell says an umpire can make $135 a night for calling a varsity/JV combo and they can help with some equipment purchase that will be required at startup.
