Ronald Anderson, 85, of Cadiz

Graveside Memorial Services for 85 year old retired Kentucky State Trooper and Detective Ronald Anderson of Cadiz, KY will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield, KY.

Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include:

Son – Mark Anderson (Shelley), Gunter, TX

Son – Michael Anderson (Leslye Bransford), Mayfield, KY

Six grandchildren: Erica Thompson (Jeff), Emily Wicker (Anna), Hunter Anderson (Kyra), Reagan Anderson, Eli Gill, and Erin Anderson

Four great-grandchildren: Riley, Cash, & Reece Thompson, and Bradley Mayfield

Brother – George Lonzo Anderson (Carolyn), Paducah, KY

Sister – Jean Crider (Joe), Milburn, KY

Sister – Brenda Lee (Gary), Paducah, KY

Ronald Anderson, age 85, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.

Born on March 29, 1939, in Wingo, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Wayne and Govie (née McClure) Anderson.

A 1957 graduate of Mayfield High School, Ronald answered the call of duty and honorably served in the United States Navy. After his military service, he continued his commitment to serve by joining the Kentucky State Police in 1966. Ronald was recognized for his exceptional service and named the 1974 Trooper of the Year for the Mayfield Post. His dedication to law enforcement was evident in his work, and in 1982, he was promoted to Detective.

Ronald was a member of Hopkinsville Church of Christ and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid tennis player and a skilled bass fisherman, having competed in many bass tournaments throughout the years. After his retirement in 1993, he discovered a passion for golf, a game he loved for the camaraderie and the challenge it presented. Above all, he cherished his role as "Granddaddy". His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense joy to his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Faye Lamb Anderson, on July 4, 2018.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Anderson (Shelley) of Gunter, TX and Michael Anderson (Leslye Bransford) of Mayfield, KY; six grandchildren: Erica Thompson (Jeff), Emily Wicker (Anna), Hunter Anderson (Kyra), Reagan Anderson, Eli Gill, and Erin Anderson; four great-grandchildren: Riley, Cash, & Reece Thompson, and Bradley Mayfield; his brother, George Lonzo Anderson (Carolyn) of Paducah, KY; and his sisters, Jean Crider (Joe) of Milburn, KY and Brenda Lee (Gary) of Paducah, KY.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Highland Park Cemetery, 101 W Willow Dr, Mayfield, KY, with Dr. Tom Martin officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz.
