Private Family Memorial Services for 87-year-old Dianne Marie DeBar, of Cadiz, will be held at a later date.
King’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Her children, Jeanette DeBar, New Mexico, Stephen Douglass (Sharleen), of Georgia, Suzyn Douglass Everhard (Ross), of Cadiz;
Six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several adoring nieces and nephews, and loving in-laws and residents of Bowling Green.
She was born July 1, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to late John Francis Sherer and Rita Marie Marquard Sherer Markle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Louis DeBar, Jr.; two sisters, Marita Jane (Sherer) Deimling and Phyllis Ann (Sherer) Miller; best friends, sister-in-law, Carol (DeBar) Sato and mother-in-law, Esther DeBar.
She died Thursday morning, February 27, 2025, at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She had a gentle loving spirit; it would be said by anyone who met her, “She’s such a sweet lady.”
She loved the Lord with all her soul and strength, and was also an avid prayer warrior – a pronounced attribute and one of the first things she ever taught her children.
Her greatest passion was serving others, both in her church and her community. She was involved in a wide variety of ministries, whether to those in physical need (ie. clothing, nourishment and/or housing) or spiritual need (ie. teaching Sunday School to the children).
The Woman’s Prison Ministry was always referred to as her most beloved and important outreach of all. Dianne physically cared for her mother-in-law, mother, and husband in their years of illness until their deaths. It was an impressive sight (albeit a very special skill that few have) to watch Dianne compassionately interacting with the dying.
Prior to marriage, Dianne was “Airman Sherer: with the US Air Force (alongside her sister Marita) and a stewardess with Continental Trailways (alongside her sister Phyllis). Dianne loved her sisters very much. Dianne also had a close relationship with her sister-in-law, Carol (DeBar) Sato, whom she travelled with to 15+ countries over the course of nearly two decades – compliments of her mother-in-law, Esther DeBar. Dianne was deeply loved by all and she will be sorely missed.
