Rosemary Laffoon Downey, 81, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky died at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, February, 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Living Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Darrel Crawford officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Suthards Cemetery in Earlington, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church on Saturday. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be; Cody Milum, Andrew Milum, Paul Milum, Daniel Vincent, Jordan Whitaker and Don Ray along with honorary pallbearers, Will Downey and Jackson Downey.
A native of Nashville, Tennessee she was born on December 6, 1943, the daughter of the late Clayborn Laffoon and Mary Few Laffoon. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael D. Laffoon.
Rosemary worked for the City of Madisonville in the utility billing department until retiring. She enjoyed working in her yard, especially he flowers. She became a Master Gardener through the University of Kentucky and put that to use at her church, creating flower beds at Living Hope Baptist Church. She frequently exercised with a wonderful group of friends and gathered at local restaurants afterward. She loved her church and her Kingdom Seekers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Wallace Downey of Hopkinsville, KY; her sons, Edward (Karen) Milum of Madisonville, KY, Dr. Joseph (Sandy) Milum of Louisville, KY and Todd Downey of Hopkinsville, KY; her daughter, Nancy Downey of Bowling Green, KY; her grandchildren, Nikki (Jordan) Whitaker, Cody Milum, Andrew (Kimberly) Milum, Rebeccah Milum, Sarah-Beth Milum, Will Downey and Jackson Downey; her nieces and nephews especially, Teresa (Billy) Vincent.
